We know everyone is busy for the Summer. So, we put some classes together with that in mind. Each class is offered once each month for June, July and August and is only one 3 hour session. No long term commitments. Just one class offered at 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
We need a minimum of 6 active Steelworkers for each class. So sign up and come on down.

INTRO TO WORD 2007 PART 1
Learn to create a basic document using Microsoft Word 2007. Class will also cover how to edit documents by locating and modifying text and how to format text and paragraphs. |

Intro to Powerpoint 2007 Part 1
This course teaches the basics of presentation software using Microsoft PowerPoint 2007. Class covers how to get started with PowerPoint, how to create a presentation, how to format text on slides, and how to add graphical objects to a presentation. |

| Free and Fun MS Photo Story Part 1Photo Story 3 is a free download from Microsoft
that can be used in digital storytelling projects
with excellent results. In this class, students will learn how to download a free copy of Microsoft's Photo Story 3, how to use the application to put together a digital storytelling project, how to add photos and create effects with pan and and zoom controls, and save a story to play on your
computer, send in an e-mail, or burn to a DVD. |

Social Networking-SKYPE
This class will give students a better understanding of the world of social networking. In this class, students will set-up a SKYPE account, see the benefits of making voice calls over the internet, understand when fees apply and what calls are free, and understand the additional features of using SKYPE, instant messaging and file transfer and video conferencing. |

This class will give students a better understanding of the world of social networking. In this class, students will set-up a LINKEDIN account and use its many tools, focus on networking with professionals, understand the opportunities available in networking with a broader network of professionals, and understand how to use this site as a job search and contact tool. |

HVAC Level I |
We are enrolling now for a HVAC Level 1 class. This is the beginner HVAC
(Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning) class.
It will prepare students to take the EPA Section 608 Certification Exam in HVAC. Class will cover the fundamentals of refrigeration, refrigeration components, metering devices, PM repairs & troubleshooting systems, fundamentals of electricity, and evacuation and reclamation of A/C systems. This class is first open to Active Steelworkers. Retirees and/or family members can only attend if seats are available. Class is held at Dixon Heating & AC shop. |

Grants-Writing Skills |
| This course teaches how to seek funding sources & how to write
proposals for government agencies and foundations.
It will cover how to help
your church or other favorite nonprofit organization pursue funding for its
causes. Which grants individuals are eligible for and why funders would want
to assist you are also featured -- including scholarship basics. You will learn:
(1) How to spell out the benefits of your proposal, (2) Which tools can help
you locate funders, (3) The components of a grant proposal, and (4) How to
apply either online or on paper. |

this course delves into the full proposal. Be ready when a foundation invites
you to submit an in-depth plan: know exactly what is expected and how to
land the funding. Explore the intricacies of budgeting a project. Create
executive summaries and all needed components of a full grant proposal.
Computers are quickly changing the way that people apply for grants.
More and more foundations are requiring that proposals be submitted online.
The federal government’s preferences for submissions are advancing as well.
